Alabama Streak Sorus Fern
(Thelypteris pilosa var. alabamensis)

streak_map.gif (19565 bytes)Description: A small evergreen fern with 4 to 8 inch deeply scalloped leaves. It grows only on sandstone overhangs and cliff faces, often in coves. It needs cool shady conditions to persist.

Forestry Considerations: Unlikely to be affected by forestry activities if Alabama’s BMP’s for Forestry are implemented.

Distribution by County:

Found only in Winston County in Alabama.
