LOUISIANA QUILLWORT
(Isoetrus louisianes)

Description: A small, grasslike, aquatic plant. It is a seedless plant closely related to the fern. Leaves are up to 16 inches long. Occurs predominately on the sand bars of smaller streams.

Forestry Considerations: Since this plant lives underwater, forestry practices that effect water quality are the only concern for this species.

Distribution by County: Known only to occur in Mobile and Washington counties.
